Finding yourself- the Overlanding way
Yet another was eliminated from Khatron ke Khilari. The weekend TV show has millions glued to the screen looking at many dangerous feats achieved by contestants usually from the world of glamour; as an audience, we are impressed by the grit, perseverance, and courage of these beautiful people from television and films. Their daredevilry demands both physical and mental prowess.
Makes one wonder what is it that makes humankind go for the unknown, and reach out for infinity!
One answer could be the indomitable spirit that drives us to go for uncharted territory, the beaten track, or as the famous dialogue says” where no man has gone before.”
The camping/ overlanding experience is one such window this satiates this spirit and opens up a whole new world for us- a world without which the senses- sight, sound, smell- experience and a world within which the inner conscious experiences!
While camping and overlanding we can discover hitherto unknown qualities in us that have been lying dormant – how to deal with the unknown, how to handle unprecedented challenges, how to make do with limited resources, and how to experience life in a new light! However well prepared you are, however extensive is your plan, your overlanding trip will invariably have some surprise up its sleeves- pleasant or unpleasant! So, every trip becomes an enriching experience for the camper, making her discover a new talent within; A memory to cherish forever; And a story to share!
Away from the pressure of the job, pollution of human habitation, and humdrum of everyday life, camping under a starlit sky or in the freezing outdoors or on the dunes of a desert or next to a forest area is thrilling and empowering at the same time. Overlanding and Camping can teach us new ways to appreciate this Earth we call home. We learn to appreciate the things we take for granted in life, and the world around us. Even the discomfort and the challenges while camping have hidden lessons. It brings home the fact that nothing should be taken for granted.
We are fortunate to have a vast and varied terrain that offers tremendous scope for Overlanding and Camping in India. Every region has its unique feature. The seasonal variations also add to the charm of Camping and Overlanding in India. Added to it are the attractions of local flavors, local people, and their culture. Overlanding in India, therefore, has an unmatched allure that not many places on Earth can compete with.
So not only does camping and overlanding offer an opportunity to find the Dabang within, but it also promises a lot more; in the lap of nature, you just might rediscover yourself!
